Get rid of fleas

My neighbor was telling me if you use green Palmolive dish detergent to wash your dog, it will kill fleas.  She actually said the fleas seem to explode.  Is that possible?

I usually use baby shampoo to wash my dogs. Fleas haven’t been a problem in the past years but I have noticed my dogs scratching more this year. It didn’t get very cold here in Florida this year so maybe the fleas didn’t get killed off.

She also said that you can put the Palmolive dish detergent in the Miracle Grow container and use the water hose, and spray your yard to kill fleas.

I haven’t tried this yet but I intend to try it. Anyone out there tried it besides my neighbor?

Yes, a lady in New Mexico in 1978 told me about Palmolive dish soap. We were a young Air Force couple and needed to know something cheap to help us with the fleas. They were running us over in the yard with all that sandy soil and dryness as well as in the house. Our poor adult Min. Schnauzers and their new litter were infested. I used it in my yard with one of those sprayers like the one Miracle Grow sells. It worked great in the yard, great on my adult Min. Schnauzers and their new litter, with no side effects. I did get some bubbles in the yard when it finally rained.

Funny after all these years I am on the net looking for a miracle flea product as my expensive ones don’t seem to be working well the past couple of years. Now I have a different breed of dogs live where it is moist and humid. However being on the Gulf Coast I still have the sandy soil and once again seem to be having a flea problem big time. I think once again I will turn to Palmolive, it worked excellant before.

I see a whole lot of sites discussing Palmolive as well as Dawn, that tells me that what I was told and what I used as a last resort in 1978 must indeed have merit. It is certainly not an expensive method to use and I know it worked plus smelled great, so what’s there to lose except the fleas in the grass and sandy soil and on my dogs.

To eliminate fleas on your pets, you must search for shampoos and powders for dogs and cats. There are a lot of flea busters available in the market. Also, you have to keep in mind that after appying this product, you have to keep your environment kill in order to totally get rid of them.

There are a lot of costly products out there but my point is you are actually drowning the fleas and anything will help to do that. At least that is what I was told. Of course, dogs or cats can also have allergies to the products you use. That happened one time to me when I was washing my Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix. Her fur is so thick that I always used cream rinse on her after bathing her with baby shampoo. I ran out of the Suave cream rinse and used some that I had gotten from a hotel recently. She started chewing her fur off around her tail and under her belly. I suppose I didn’t rinse it off well enough. I put her back into the tub and rinsed her over and over again. Needless to say, I never did that again.

I came home on my lunch break to find fleas on my dog after having been to the vet a few days ago. I’m sure that’s where he got them. Any how, that being said, I could not get to the vet because I could not get away from work before they closed and the only stuff available to me was zodiac which is uber bad. The vet suggested bathing him in this until I could get in, in a few days. It will kill them. HOW EVER, I’m assuming it does not kill eggs.

For those who live in the deepsouth, Dawn will kill fire ants. Use a cup in a gallon of water and pou directly on the mound.
