Vinegar as a weed killer

I read in my Mother Earth News magazine that you can take diluted or full strength vinegar and pour on the weeds growing in cracks in your cement driveway or between your bricks or stepping stones. Boy, that has to be cheaper than the weed killers you buy in the store. I haven’t tried it yet since I do not have a sidewalk or concrete driveway out in the country. lol

Yes, it will work to kill any grass or weeds, I imagine. The salt and vinegar mixture worked great to kill out weeds before I put down my plastic and then red bark in the flower beds. I don’t know if it would discolor your concrete driveway so I think I would try to get the liquid in the cracks where the grass is and not get too much on the driveway. You could do a test area on your concrete, just to be sure. I know vinegar cleans water spots off glasses but I was thinking the salt could leave a residue. It was definitely a cheap solution to my problem.

Oops, I needed to add this comment. When I make my solution, I used Epsom salt and vinegar together. It was a small container boxed up, think it was a pint size of salt. Then I bought a large bottle (gallon, i think) of vinegar. I have a large spray container that you have to pump to spray. It worked great. You do have to really shake the container to get the salt to dissolve.
